IX. HERMIT

Higher Meaning:
The Hermit represents the search for higher truth. He does not seek answers in the world but he seeks them within himself. Contemplation, meditation and concentrated devotion to the search for Truth is the Hermits path. Know thyself.

Mundane Meaning:
The need for patience and soul searching is indicated by the presence of the Hermit in a reading. It is time to re-evaluate ones direction and priorities. It would be valuable to arrange time for silence and meditation in ones life. The Hermit may also indicate the presence in the questioners life of a wise advisor or mentor.

Reversed Meaning:
When the Hermit is reversed in a reading it indicates movement in the wrong direction. Shallowness, scattered or frenetic activity may also be present in the questioners life. The possibility of bad advice or poor counsel exists as well.
